About me
I spent many years in the evenings working alongside my late Father who was a Master Craftsman and trade Goldsmith (based at forty one and a half Union street, Aberdeen). He taught me all aspects of jewellery repair. At that time I was employed within the oil service supply industry but by the time I reached 30 I decided it was time to leave that industry and commence on the road to a brand new challenge and so Argyll Jewellers was born. I set up the shop back in 1997. The shop was originally a butchers shop so the full scale refurbishment took over 6 months to transfer the shop to its current state.
For most of that time I specialised in all types of retail sales and repairs but during the past 5-6 years the repair and restoration side of the business really became busier and busier until at the end of December 2021 I made the decision to concentrate fully on the repair and restoration side of the jewellery business by operating an 'appointment only' system at the shop. This is so that I can offer customers a more personal experience to discuss their jewellery projects on a one to one basis and give them the peace of mind that the person who they are speaking to is the person who will physically be doing the work rather than most jeweller shops where your initial discussion will be with a counter trained person who will not have had a lifetime of personal practical experience at the bench.
I am not a 'social media' type of guy but over the years I have had thousands and thousands of recommendations by customers who appreciate a courteous, polite, professional service which seems to be a rare commodity these days. I have never had to advertise at all as word of mouth has always brought me plenty of customers which has led me to the new appointment only system.

When emailing us to arrange an appointment it would be beneficial if you can supply a photograph (where possible) along with your email so I can ascertain the time to allocate for an appointment. You will then be offered an available time to visit the shop and book your job in. The time of an allocated appointment to book in your job is 15 minutes.
Longer appointments are available if required to discuss more complex repairs or manufacturing jobs. There will normally be a small charge for these longer appointments to cover my time but if you then proceed with the work then this small charge will be refunded in full against the final cost of the job. Details will be provided at the time of your enquiry.
